Following a 21-year career at sea on vessels of all sizes and ultimately as master on VLCC tankers, Bob specialized in ship handling and Ship-to-Ship cargo transfer. Bob has been involved in various capacities undertaking ship-to-ship lightering for nearly 40 years and was initially trained by Chevron on dedicated lightering ships. He was a full-time Mooring Master for over 7 years and still regularly conducts operations, both commercial and emergency to keep ship handling skills up to date. Using his knowledge and experience Capt. Bob has had significant involvement in the development of both procedures and equipment for side-by-side Oil and LNG projects worldwide and enjoys working at this pioneering stage to interpret and implement emerging regulations in the industry. Prior to being a co-founder of SafeSTS, he was Marine Manager and Director with responsibility for over 1500 STS operations per year Globally.
