Angela McKane joined bp in 2008 and was appointed Vice President (Technology Insights) in January 2021, based in London, UK. She has 20 years’ experience working in technology and engineering-led organisations and her global team at bp extends across North America, Europe and Asia. Angela’s team is accountable for scanning for emerging and disruptive technologies that will impact the global energy system, and for identifying those that present business opportunities for bp group - and in particular those areas where technology investment can play a role in achieving bp’s Sustainability Aims and Net Zero ambition.Angela is originally from Glasgow, Scotland, and is a graduate of the University of Glasgow. There she studied Sociology, Philosophy and Politics, and she therefore holds a keen interest in how the world is organized and in considerations around equity in the context of climate change, access to opportunity and access to resources. She is also a disability rights advocate and presents to disabled students and graduates, with the aim of attracting diverse talent to the energy sector.
