During the past 40 years, Paul has participated as a lawyer in many of the leading deals and disputes of the international energy business. These have included cross-border corporate and commercial transactions, as well as regulatory, competition, insolvency and administrative matters. Paul has been based in Europe and in Asia and his experiences extend to most of the leading energy jurisdictions of the world, and to oil, gas, LNG and power in all sectors. He has been a partner in a number of the leading international law firms in the oil and gas sector and has led those oil and gas teams across jurisdictions and legal practices. In addition to his chair at the University of Dundee, Paul works as an arbitrator, mediator and expert in relation to disputes of the international energy business. He also works as a consultant to governments, energy companies and law firms.
