Robert Malabar established Malabar Associates Pty Ltd, in Perth, Western Australia in 2018 for the purpose of origination and maturing of special case situations with potential to lead to major capital projects. Now with senior industry colleagues, the business has a handful of active projects. Robert is speaking at Gastech this year in his capacity as managing director of one of those projects, Pilbara Clean Fuels Pty Ltd (‘PCF’). PCF is a project development company set up to develop a new mid-scale 0.5 MTPA, electrified, pipeline natural gas to LNG conversion plant at Port Hedland in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The principal purpose is production of lower carbon emissions profile LNG marine bunker fuel to service dry bulk Large Ore Carrier (LOC) shipping operating round-trip voyages to North Asia out of the port. Robert has 30 years experience in upstream, midstream, refineries and chemicals - latterly with a track record in new projects and business development. He is an alumni of Scotland's St Andrews University, is a Chartered Chemical Engineer, and holds an MBA from Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow.
