Dr. Jong Keun Yu is Senior Researcher of Samsung Heavy Industries, who specializes in both mechanical system engineering for HVAC and CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) systems and computer-based simulation (CFD) of both heat transfer and fluid dynamics. He has developed various thermal fluid system for enhancing operational energy performance for ship and offshore projects. Additionally, he served as offshore safety specialist to conduct hazardous gas dispersion study and fire& gas detector layout optimization for multiple offshore projects since 2011.
Dr. Yu is now responsible for On-board Carbon Capture System (OCCS) engineering for various commercial vessels and offshore projects. He focuses on improving operational energy efficiency of OCCS by recovering waste thermal energy from both LNG vaporization and gas-fueled marine diesel engine/bolier. Dr. Yu holds a degree of Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering of University of California, San Diego.
