Dr. Byeongyong Yoo (born in 1975) is the Vice President of the Energy System Research Institute at HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE). He holds a Master's degree (2000) and a PhD (2011) in Naval Architecture Engineering from Seoul National University, where he also studied Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering as an undergraduate.
Before joining the shipbuilding industry, Dr. Yoo served as a faculty member in the Department of Naval Architecture at the Republic of Korea Naval Academy. In a shipbuilding industry, he has been instrumental in the development of new technologies for LNG carriers, LNG bunkering vessels, and LNG-fueled ships.
In his current role, Dr. Yoo leads the research and development efforts focused on liquid hydrogen carrier and hydrogen value chain development. With a strong commitment to advancing technological innovation, he plays a key role in driving the development of new technologies and business opportunities in the field.
